Erik's Weekly Fitness Tip | Dear Diary

How many of you keep a training journal?

Logging your daily workouts is not a new concept by any means, but it does have huge value.

There are so many things that you can see when you keep track of your workouts:

  • progression
  • victories
  • failures
  • health
  • poor planning

These are just a few little secrets that your training log will reveal.

Why is it so important to keep track of your workouts?

It gives you a chance to plan better for the next big event.  Now you can avoid some of the potholes that you crashed into last time.

Be diligent!  Keep track of everything:

  • food
  • sleep
  • overall stress
  • warm-ups
  • speeds
  • loads
  • rest periods
  • how you felt during the workout
  • how you recovered from the workout

You'll be happy you did!

Yes, it can be a pain to start this process. But once you get into the habit of it, you will be grateful that you did. This information matters - it will allow you to take some of the guesswork out of how to hit your next target.
